love notes

man oh man, what a fun show at vertigos! that place ROCKS! the crowd there defiantly knows how to have a good time, they just let the music take control and they let the rhythm move them. Thanks so much to the lovely Lina for all of her hard work and for making the night so amazing. when i got to my car after the place closed down, people had written all over the windows with their fingers hearts and messages telling us how much the liked the show. and then i thought i had gotten a ticket, but some one else had slipped paper under the windshield wiper saying great set, sounded awesome see you at the viper room. i guess some people saw us all chillin out in the car after sound check. i just thought it was cool to get feedback like that. thats what its all about; getting up there and bringin it every single time- playing your guts out, connecting with people and making their night through music, cause that makes mine. so if you are in a band you should defiantly play this venue and if you are not you should defiantly go to have a good time, dance your ass off, and listen to some good music.

muah!!

Vertigo show

Hello again,
Last night we played downtown. It was totally awesome. Full house and cool people partying. What more can you ask for...
After the show we loaded out throught he emergency door and left the equipment on the sidewalk for awhile, a security guy looked after it. When we came back there was birdshit all over the kickdrum..Nasty!!! This little bird was actually sleeping. It was sitting right above the kickdrum and just shitting like crazy. It was kind of funny - in a disgusting way..
Next show is on wednesday in San Francisco @ Bottom of the Hill.
Maybe we'll see you there.
Later homies........

world's gone to pot

i would love to be blogging here today telling you of all the amazing stuff i did over the last couple of days, but i cant. i have been so deep into the new harry potter book that i have not done much of anything else! it is SO GOOD, im telling you! i am at the very end, the last little sliver of the book. once i finish it, I will never have any more harry potter to read... ever. so sad. so far it has been everything i had hoped and nothing that i could have imagined. all the loose ends are tying up. new mysteries unveiled, old ones revealed and non-stop close calls. there are some big losses too, but that is to be expected when you are up against the wall fighting powerful darkness. anways... i gotta go and finish it now, wish me luck.

Paris Hilton + Disco Metro !

i stumbled along the streets of the west side yesterday. hung out on top of the beverly center. that's my secret chill spot. i can relax up there. the wind blows smmooooooth.
it's like 15 stories high. you can view all of LA. quite nice ! i went into this movie theatre on beverly and fairfax. $3 matinee !! holy moly - that is incredible. i saw A Mighty Heart w/ angelina jolie. it was very good. a true story. that is all i will tell you. i don't like to know much about a flik when i go see it and i wouldn't want u to know much either. enjoy it if you go. heavy !!
when the movie let out....7pm, i decided to cruise around on the westside some more. it was like a vacation on top of a vacation. i went into this gag - shop that is frequented by Paris Hilton. she has been spotted at this shop more than a few times. i quite enjoyed myself. once i found the cursing maching and fart machine - it was on !!!!
i called my friends.. leaving them voice mails with my new entertainment sounds..
this one machine goes " you fucking asshole " and then DDDDDRRRRRR ahhhhh goes the fart machine into Lex''s voicemail. i can't wait to hear from him if i ever do ??? again ??
LEX ????
hello ?????????

the Hustler shop has some funny gifts as well. all my friends can look forward to their birthdays this year. lots fun toys !!

i ran into Disco Metro. this is a bus you can rent $100/hr. and party down. the dude who owns it: Tommy 310 376 0376 is very cool. i asked him " how much would it coast to drive my band to NY and back. he laughed.....and then said "i'd have to add it up, but i could work it out" he also has sleeper buses, which are the proper touring bus for bands w/ sweet $$$$$$$. they usually hold 15-18 people. we toured in one last yar in the UK with just 6 of us on it. talk about comfort and space.

i popped over to the viper to see my friends moving to paris, they had a very good show and i ran into mellissa who books their. she is very sweet and down for fun. also their was pete from Moderates. so it was rally nice to cruise the west side and gather all of these memories.

i rolled home and listened to wolf parade. i got my new issiue of Tape Op magazine. this has stories and interviews with music producers/studios/etc....... they had the guy that mixed Wolf Parade. it was cool. i love these guys that are like : " you don't need to have some expensive mic to make a great record, you need great songs and a gret performance" the vibe is crucial. $$$$$ can't buy you a gret record he says. only you can make a great record.

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I love it

red assed beat down

so i just played some guitar hero for the first time tonight. its pretty fun, but i gotta admit, i... i suck at it! i rock that shit on the easy setting to songs i know, but i bump it up to medium and i get jacked every time. i am rubbish at most of these modern console game and plus i think i missed out on the top 40 pop songs that EVERY body knows, they just never register in my subconsciousness, i guess. for example: i swear ive never heard most of the songs sung on american idol unless its like a nina simone or ella fitzgerald and i never know the songs everyone sings along to at karaoke. maybe im just making excuses for getting my ass handed to me by a kid that goes by the name of ROOKIE. it is probably my fault for selling him my old acoustic guitar back in the day when he said he wanted to pick it up and give it ago. i dont think he ever really played it much but i guess he picked up enough to KICK MY ASS AT GUITAR HERO!!!!! arggg. next time rookie i am going to shred the pants off you. im going to go to the local arcade and practice a couple hours a day for a week straight with the kids and learn their chops. you're going down!

I really need a trip....

to Denmark and Paris. I need it so bad, I actually got a bag for travelling.A real nice Betsey Johnson bag. That will keep me happy until I'm on the plane again. I want to go to Europe with my friend Laura. She has never been. I am afraid if she goes alone, she might not come back, so I have to go with her, to keep an eye on her.
Tonight I went downtown to The Blue Star to hang out with Moderates and all the hot girls they surround themselves with. It was a fun time, but I went home early to work out a bit. YES! Can you believe it, I actually work out. Just a little bit, though..
This whole week has been insane trying to get our cd release party together. I am starting to think we might need to change our extravagant plans... I swore we wouldn't be another band celebrating with cupcakes at the local bar. I might have spoken too soon. That will teach me, haha..
See you next week,

love to you all

New music...

I went to Cinespace last night. Spoon and Watson Twins were playing and about 5000 people showed up, or at least it felt like it. The room was crazy hot.
But monday night I had the very rare and pleasant experience of accidently discovering the most amazing music I have heard in a very very long time. I went down to Spaceland because my friend Evan was playing. For some reason I thought he was going on at 9am, but as it turned out , he went on at midnight, so that was a long wait, especially since I had just returned from San Francisco. But the first band was Chrisopher Blue. It is the most amazing players and the singer is crazy rad. It's got a lounge/jazzy feel. I was blown away, and immediately went home and downloaded songs from iTunes. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
cool...Well, today I met up with a director who is going to shoot our next video. That was real interesting as well. I will know more about it next week.
Have a nice day :-)

schooled in pool

It has been a busy week. Getting the final artwork together and catching shows around town.
Last night would have to be my favourite. Moderates were playing at Silverlake Lounge and it is the best set I have ever seen them play. They were crazy tight and the sound was amazing. I was lucky to get a seat up front. (Moderates: I know you fuckers read this, so next time you better play Attraction !)
After their show we all went to The White Horse in Hollywood to say goodbuy to Naomi. Poor thing is going to Europe to a bunch of Festivals - for 2 months ! Marty, Sarah, Jake and I ended up playing pool. About 20 minutes in to the game, Jake and I still had 7 balls on the table. We lost... But next time we'll win :-)
Has anybody seen the Marc Jacobs fall collection? If so, are you as obsessed as I ?

GLISS - SPIN * Artist of the Day *

welcome to the morning.....my favorite time of the day. stillness and possibility. you can taste and hear it if you lean in and take a moment.
i was lying on top of the beverly center yesterday over on the west side of town. if you ever need to catch a breath i suggest you head over. i had no idea it existed. go to the top floor and head south. you will find yourself looking over the entire LA area. it's very special. i used to not like it so much here, but from touring and seeing other parts of the world, i have come to love and appreciate all the beauty LA has to offer. the museums, the mountain and hills, the ocean, the vegitation...it all makes LA special.
so push a few tables together and lay out under an umbrella. the breeze if $$Priceless !
up in the sky you are away from the worlds hunger to eat us. = Beverly & La Cienega.

looks like SPIN has chosen GLISS to be * Artists of the Day * July 12th. thanks so much kids : - ).
don't forget to check out SHARK WEEK on the Discovery Chanel. it starts on July 29th. this is their 20th Anniversary. Some dude is going to hang with great whites and attempt to pet them and just get incredibly close to the most feared creature in the deep blue sea. ooooooooooh
check out the new interpol. i am loving track #1.

you gotta start

man! you have got to start watching flight of the concords. its about these two new zealand blokes called bret and gemaine who are in a band together. their manager is this travel agent who can never get them any gigs and they have one crazy obsessive fan. they break out into funny songs and get themselves into crazy situations. picture ricky gervais and sarah silverman starting a band together. the show is so funny and keeps getting better and better every week! so check it out. entourage was finally good again last night too. is it just me or has it been lagging the past few weeks? ive started watching that john from cincinatti since these 3 shows are all on HBO back to back. its pretty good and trippy, a lot of weird stuff is going on but you dont really know what or why. Ed O'Neill (married with children) is probably my favorite in it. he is this old guy who is always talking and shouting to his bird, getting messages from him. anyways, so that is what i did last night. that and nursed a hangover from saturday night. my friend JB came over and we got out our crocheting, popped some corn, put our feet up, and watched our stories. oh yeah we also got played on KROQ again so CLICK then click on kroq music and request away. lets get some gliss into heavy rotation so i can buy a new tv, mine is a piece of crap!

Victoria Beckham

So we are back home. It was the most amazing time. It felt really good to be playing in front of that many people again. Usually that only happens in Europe. Asheville was cool and it was nice seeing Billy again.
Next sunday we are going up to San Francisco. Looking forward to that. But first: Golf with Lex. (I did not forget!! Call me and we'll find a day)
I spent all night on Youtube watching Victoria Beckham interviews. My plans for tomorrow: Hopefully getting the artwork for our CD during the day. I think I am going to Fred Segal for breakfast. Yeah....That's what I'll do.
Later people !

punkin land

so i am at the airport at a starbucks drinkin my drink and eatin my muffin enjoyin the wi-fi. our flight got delayed so here i am writing to you lot. first off, KILLER show last night with corgie and the pumpkin gang. they smashed the hell out of it playing an insane 3 hours in a room that was 100 degrees and %100 humidity. so we did our thing to open the night and played our blistering 'punk rock' set (according to some freshly won over new fans) and thanks so much to our new fans for listening and being so damn cool. you guys were awesome and that is what it is all about: getting in front of people and giving them a glimpse at what it is you do. we thank you guys so much for being so receptive to it, it really made the whole trip worthwhile, oh and billy saying how happy he was to see us again and how much he and his peeps dig what we do! "much love to you, BRO....MAN" After the show we drove back to the hotel and got in at 4:30 in the morning after a night filled with a lot of laughter, merriment, wine and spirits, discussions on music and the meaning of life ect. and had to get up at 9. so now i am at starbeezy starting to feel a bit more human and "ready to get this bird off the ground!!" see you in LBC tonight YEAH!

A looong day travelling....

We just got to our hotel in Charlotte, NC. It was a pretty long day. But not as long as the drive in the shuttle from the airport to the hotel. A group of drunk teenagers who had just been to Costa Rica filled the bus. I know a lot about them, just from the ride. Way more than I want to know. The best part was that one of the guys had a bad fake spanish accent, and kept talking about his friend Ricardo. He must have said "Ricardo" 50 times with his fake accent. I wanted to fuck with him so bad, but was too tired. They are staying at the same hotel as we are, and when we got to the hotel, I was first in line, but the older woman travelling with them, also known as Senorita, cut in front of me, and when I started complaining to her, she started coughing. So I made sarcastic comments instead, and every time she would cough. I wanted to yell at her really bad, or at least call her "ugly fat bitch", but my band mates calmed me down :-)
As if that wasn't enough, one of the people at the front desk was a total jerk. He refused to check me in. I have no idea why. He knew I was there first, but instead of helping me, he was just leaning up against the wall, smiling. You know, that smile that says "yeah, I am the shit, I am in control of this hotel, I am a loser with a nightshift"
(That doesn't mean everybody with a nightshift is an idiot !!)
The room has flies.....
They also never answer the phone. We tried calling for a shuttle for like 30 minutes. Maybe you have better luck...The number is 704-393-5306. For a fun time, ask for the nightshift shuttle driver :-)

Goodnight..........

i gotta take a leak

well i wasnt sure it ever would, but the new pumpkins record has leaked. congrats team corgan for keeping it under wraps for so long, but i guess once you ship it out to the stores a week before the release date it is out of your control. for those of you who are at all curious i will give you a link where you can stream it at aol/spinner/listening party, legally, if you are ok with shitty sounding compression on it. all and all i think it is a lot better than many people feared, some classic corgie on it for sure and it rocks like almighty hell, but has music changed too much since the last pumpkins record, or have I? i think it's me...not you B, its what i am going through and my own personal shit you know. ive been really into peter bjorn and john now and thats just about as hard as i rock. maybe when i really want to let loose, let my hair down, and go nuts i put on some early belle and sebastian eps or some django reinhardt. i just think that if someone popped it in for the first time as a new, no name band without your vocals on it, maybe i wouldnt be listening to it, maybe it would be too 'heavy' and too 'rocking' for me to handle... are you kidding me!!! you are one of the ones that showed me the almighty power of the BADASS riff! the last 90 seconds of United States has some of the dopest, dirtiest, coolest guitar lines ive heard in a long time! but i gotta say, maybe its because i've moved on from what i was listening to 7 years ago that i think my fav on the album is Neverlost. to me it feels the most contemporary to me and what my tastes are now. so congrats B on putting yourself out there again and doing a bang up job. i think that you have surprized all the naysayers out there and now lets sit back and watch them eat there words!
cant wait to see you rocking that shit OUT in a few days!!!

A week of rad parties

A million parties this week and I made it out to all of them except the Penthouse party. That was the night of the Roxy show, and we planned to drop off the equipment and go to the party afterwards. But for some reason, we had to leave our equipment in the parking lot and hang out there until we had to play. It turned out to be a fun place to hang out, but I would have preferred to go to the Penthouse party in Hollywood. The Roxy show was so much fun, especially for our friend who ended up making out with 2 hot girls. (read Martin's blog below)
Yesterday I went to Marc and Lex's bithday parties. Marc was talking about Brie from Trader Joe's for 2 hours, it was great. I have to post some video...
Lex got a fart machine. You can time it, so it farts randomly. It's awesome !

Cheers.........
