Very close to finishing album number 3. It's been a long year, we are excited.
Started shooting a video with legendary director Paul Boyd, and we feel very lucky about that. We were fortunate to meet him through our good friends in Glasvegas.
We will of course put up the video later on, but for now, here is a still:

Other exciting news would be a trip to Sweden to finish up this piece!

This morning we went to the Gibson Showroom to pick up some new gear. We got the Epiphone country deluxe guitar and a blues custom amp. Went straight to the studio and recorded all day. Now all we need is a proper mic stand...

The fun continues

I had so much fun on thursday that I couldn't let it end there. So friday I decided to go to the Schindler House. It was peaceful and beautiful. I stayed til they closed, the whole time pretending it was my place. This is my room:

It was such a nice warm day, and I stayed out for awhile, walking everywhere..
Saturday was even better. Started off with a trip to Santa Monica. I went to the farmers market and got carrots. Then I walked down to the beach and looked at the mountains and the water, and read a book. Then I visited my friends before leaving for a lomography class.. Hopefully the pictures will come out alright. Realized halfway through the roll, I had it set kinda wrong.
My friends are here all the way from Scotland. They are in a great band called Glasvegas, if you don't know them yet, you will soon. Check them out on Youtube. They are lovely:

The lomography class was so interesting. We all walked around West Hollywood and took random pictures. If my pictures come out alright, I will post some later this week.

Today I went to LACMA for some classical music and a bit of art. A bit of Andy Warhol.... First time I saw the soup can picture in person :-)

When all that was over, what could possibly make the night better..?? oh yeah...Yogurtland!~ It was good....
And now it's time for some Twin Peaks...long overdue.....

It's rare I feel like this, but today was epic! There wasn't one thing I disliked about today. When does that ever happen? And why am I writing about this you may think...Well...Just to let you guys know we are still alive. We are demoing, but that doesn't mean I don't have stories from the road, ya'll////
I have LA road stories..
Got up really early this morning ( that means before noon) to talk to someone in London. That was nice. Then I decided to go to the Hammer Museum, because I had promised myself I would go somewhere I had never been before. It was really peaceful, and I loved the book store. I checked out the Rachel Whiteread drawings. I didn't get it at all. But I LOVED the Rembrandt prints.

The Hammer Museum is free every thursday, so go!!! I also found out that the real RED BOOK by Carl Jung will be at the museum in April. I will be back for that.
Then I walked around Westwood for awhile. Discovered a killer little vintage store, I didn't know about. It was called "thank you mart". (http://www.thankyoumart.com/)
I walked down Robertson and enjoyed all the beautiful cars and the beautiful people. I touched several designer purses on my trip down Robertson, but did not buy!!! Checked out some galleries and learned about the West Hollywood artwalk, which I had no idea existed. The artwalk is March 26th+27th. I am going. If you go to the Rebecca Molayem Gallery on the 26th you can see artist Melanie Van Latum create an original canvas street painting. That sounds like fun to me.
After Robertson I went to the Bodhi Tree. I have not been there in years. Turns out they have a copy of Jung's red book. It's on display, so you can just go in there and read it for a couple of hours. Pretty cool, because then you dont have to buy it. It's $200!
Later I had a meeting at Dominicks Restaurant on Beverly. I had never been there before, but it's really chill. I will for sure be back there again. I met so many interesting people today...What a trip... This weekend will be great. Ariel Pink on saturday!!! Free concert sunday night at LACMA !! And of course a million other things. Now I'm gonna go to bed and read Carl Jung.

Ok, so I realized it had been a few weeks since I had done a blog. I think after coming home from the last tour, things were just mental for awhile. But now we are starting to demo new songs, and it's going really well. Pretty exciting... So that's pretty much it. Recording and yeah..partying... Upon realizing not all italian bathrooms have toilet seats, The Hair retracts his previous statement of "I can shit anywhere".

The Hair crosses 2 lanes in massive italian traffic - and that is mental! - to get to the right exit. He then sighs " Fuck, I just came"

8.25pm -Having dinner with the promoters in Rome:
The Hair's back gets hit with 2 freshly baked pizzas, by the waiter, -whilst wearing cardigan-, and it results in all the tomatoes falling off his bruschetta. He puts down his plate in anger.

2am - in front of the hotel in Rome:
The Hair is watching David changing his pants in the van , and screams in horror ; " OH MY GOD - I JUST SAW A TESTICLE" !!

As some of you know by now, our good friend The Hair or The Hair Bear, has flown out to help us on the road. He is an interesting young man, and we have decided to create a blog documenting his whereabouts. This blog will be updated frequently throughout our European tour. Do not miss it!

Monday 1am, Zurich:
The Hair's cardigan gets nicknamed "tittygan". He is upset.

Monday 1.30am,Zurich:
The Hair gets knighted by a drunk girl, who cannot say "Z-hair", and therefor calls him "Sir-hair".

Tuesday 11.10am, The Alpes:
The Hair jumps out of van when he discovers a beetle on his leg. He jumps back and forth,to and fro, to get rid of the beetle - he does not want to touch it! This will henceforth be known as "The Beetle-dance"

Tuesday 11.25am, The Alpes:
The Hair is having iPhone problems.It seems to not want to turn on.

Tuesday 11.26,The Alpes:
The Hair is enjoying a Schweppes, whilst driving. The iPhone is finally working and he looks pleased, smiling as he drives through The Alpes.

Tuesday 3.10PM, Italy:
The Hair is enjoying a ham sandwich. He gets upset and scared when he thinks there is cheese in the sandwich. To his delight he discovers it is in fact an egg.

It is wednesday night ( I think), we just played in Guildford. It was nice, a lot of people from the show in London last night, came out. So thank you for making it a fun night. We were pretty tired when we showed up, cos we only slept 3 hours or so. The bar last night didnt close til 4am, and we had to get up at 8am. We went to the Gibson show room today, it was really nice! Then went to Tiger Tours and got a new van. But first we got a parking ticket.
Tonight we are staying with a new friend out in the country, actually in a cemetery. It could freak some people out I suppose, but it is actually very cozy and warm! And there is a bed here. I am very relaxed. The guys are already sleeping. I am uploading a bit more video from last week, cos people keep emailing me about more video from the road. It's just been so insanely busy, I haven't had much time to go through it all yet. I have so much video...But here is a bit from last week...Wow...last week.It seems like 2 months ago....

Loving Glasgow!!!

We are on our way to Barnsley. We have never been before. We just spent 4 days in Scotland, and I am ready to move there. It was so amazing. First stop was Edinburgh, but I think I already wrote a blog about that...Just in case I didn't, here's the short version of it: Played a show and went on a 3 hour walking tour and learned everything about the old buildings, the witch hunts and the ghosts. Then we went to Glasgow. I knew that was gonna be insanely rad, just because we have friends up there. Sure enough, they came out to the show and brought another band with them from Denmark called Mew. So there we were ...Three bands out partying in Glasgow. Gliss, Glasvegas and Mew. That was fun!
I don't even know how many bars we went to, but it got more and more fun and weird. Finally at some point in the morning, we ended up at some small bar, that was supposed to be closed, but they let us in, and there were about 20 people down there in the basement partying. As we are standing at the bar, a cute female midget ( she looked like a very small Britney Spears) walks up to us, looks at David and yells:
"OY! Where are you from?", and as she yells that, she jumps into the air and slaps him really hard right in the face!!! One of our friends just looked at David and said "Welcome to Glasgow".
It's probably the best thing I have experienced EVER! David looked really confused, it was really funny... Then she grabbed Martin and dragged him out on the dance floor...I can't even describe how funny that was. She was half the size of Martin, and as they are dancing she starts rubbing her ass up against him. David and I were laughing so hard, we were crying.
Next day we slept all day and did laundry, then went out again at night.
So it's been fun. Although Martin and David are constantly rude to me. They love it. Like yesterday..This is what happened, when I was about to tell a funny story:
Martin goes: "I dont wanna hear your stories anymore, they are giving me a headache, you are so over the top"
And did I mention we only had 2 small beds in the room? Guess who slept on the floor for 2 days! ME!
As we are about to go out David says:" Boys night out, bring the ladies home. Victoria you need to find a place to stay tonight or sleep in the van!"
I am gonna keep writing down all the rude things they say to me, hehe... I am never rude to them, I am basically a saint!
My body is hurting, especially my heart. It must be all those energy drinks..Or something..Maybe I will take it easy tonight after the show. Oh, just realized we don't have a place to sleep tonight. Great...

Edinburgh Day 1

We have been in Edinburgh for a couple of days. It's a great city, very old and very haunted. I haven't seen anything spooky, except David in the morning, but we took a guided tour of the city today ( yeah dorks ) and they told us about the witch burnings and all the haunted scary places. I will put together a video of the tourist stuff later.
It's insanely cold ! My plan tomorrow, when we get to Glasgow, is finding a pair of gloves. Being European you'd think I would be well prepared for this weather... But I'm not. I am always the one without a jacket, in a t-shirt, begging the guys to borrow some of their warm clothes. They both have 2 jackets on this trip!!!
After walking around Edinburgh all day, I went straight to bed and passed out. Unfortunately that means I am now very awake and everybody else is asleep.

Manchester tonight

It is monday morning and we are on our way to Manchester. I had phone problems and missed 2 phone interviews, that sucked. But I did a bit of rescheduling. Hit up a gas station and got a "top-up" as they call it over here, for my UK phone.
We are driving a huge splitter van, I am in the back, freezing!! As some of you know already, I forgot my jacket in Los Angeles. Right now I borrowed Martin and David's jackets, one wrapped around my legs. The promoter from Manchester just called to warn us about the cold weather. Apparently it's only gonna get worse, cos we are heading north to Scotland tomorrow. Then Glasgow on wednesday, which I am looking very much forward to.
We are listening to the David Lynch song, " Dark night of the soul", produced by Sparklehorse and Dangermouse. It is SICK! ( yeah, I use that word as a compliment)
There's a bunch of hills and cows and sheep right outside the windows. Trippy...
I'm tired and cold....I need a pair of wool socks and a nice hug, please !

Austin

After Pittsburgh we drove all the way to Dallas to do a show at Club Dada with The Start and TBL. Turns out the club didn't bother to open. So all bands and fans were standing outside on the sidewalk. An email or a phone call would have been nice..

Fortunately there was a rad tattoo shop across the street, so Klingman didn't waste any time:

On our way to Austin the next day, I made the guys stop at Willie's Place.

For those of you who do not know, Willie Nelson has his own "gas-station". It's bio-diesel, and its called bio-Willie. Anyways, the store is full of fun WN stuff, and there's a pretty big theater in the back.

Finally arrived in Austin. It was so hot !!!

Fun times in Austin. One of the wildest audiences thus far. If anyone has pictures of the girls dancing on stage, I know a couple of guys that would like a copy.

Still out here folks...

Can never really seem to find the time and energy to write the blogs. But here we go.. We went to NYC the other day, and it was rad as always to be back. I love that city. Friday night we went to The Bowery and ended up going to a bar most of the night. Well, I did anyways. The guys were beat and fell asleep in the van. But it sure caught up to me the next day. Fell asleep in the van outside the club in Philly. It was actually pretty good to be back in Philly. We now have some good friends there.

Saint Louis

Ok, so finally I have time and energy to write something again. We love being on tour with The Warlocks. The Chicago show was killer. We had LA friends come out to the show, that was so nice. And The Warlocks put on the best show. If you were in the room for the last few songs of their set, you now what Im talking about. Such an intense vibe. I was right in front of the stage, right in front of Bobby. It was so sick. We ended up hanging out at the club for awhile that night, cos we are off for a few days on our own, before meeting up with everybody again in Lancaster on monday.
Yesterday we went to Saint Louis on our own, back to the Firebird - Our home away from home.
It's our 3rd time there this year. And I have a feeling we will be back soon again.

Right now we are on our way to Minneapolis. I think we are gonna stop in North Dakota to sleep a little.

We are in Seattle and it is crazy hot.

We played at Chop Suey last night. Had a great time, and saw some friends. And thanks to KEXP people for making it out!!
I am soooo spaced out right now, I don't even know what to talk about. I am jetlagged. So even though we came home at 3am, I still woke up at 7. Everybody else is asleep - even the cat and the 3 dogs. I tried to wake up the cat, but it ignored me. It actually turned it's back to me !

The Warlocks Tour

The tour started in San Francisco. I flew in from London that night and almost didn't make it in time for the show. My plane was delayed. Fortunately the night was running a bit late, so by the time I made it to the club, we were going on.
It was a killer night. Loved Morning after Girls and Warlocks. I could get used to listening to them every night.

Visiting Skagen

Skagen takes its name from the region, which projects into the waters between the North Sea and the straits of Denmark. Skagen is considered the boundary between the Skagerrak (named after Skagen) and the Kattegat. At its very tip is a sandy, shifting headland known as Grenen. Here it's possible to experience the sight of waves clashing together from each side of the tip.
This is where I grew up.

The area is extremely picturesque, and distinguished by its low, yellow houses with red tile roofs nestled into the beach areas. The impressive and wild landscape was largely formed by a severe process of desertification that hit the area in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Problems with moving dunes and desertification were brought under control in the latter 19th and early 20th centuries by large-scale plantations of grasses, bushes and fir trees. Two significant migratory dunes remain in the area, including the enormous Råbjerg Mile.
The area is closely associated with the Skagen Painters, a community of artists (artist colony), who flocked to this picturesque, and then unspoiled, area in the late 1800s to escape the city and to record artistically a way of life they realized was soon to disappear. The Skagen Painters, were not just painters, but also writers, and other influential people as well. While only a few were fulltime residents of the area, they were often joined by friends, especially during the summer months. This is "Vippefyret". A vippefyr or bascule light was a type of small navigational aid popular in Denmark in the eighteenth century and before. It consisted of a basket in which wood or coal was set; this was then burned. The basket was affixed to a lever which allowed it to be manipulated as required.
The vippefyr system was generally viewed as ineffective, as it produced little light and was usually unreliable. It is still there today. And every year on June 23rd people go there to celebrate "Skt Hans " which is midsummer eve.

All visitors always talk about the "special light" in Skagen. But as beautiful that light is during the day, the night time is the prettiest. During the summer months, all the tourists go to the beach for the sunset, and once the sun is setting they all applaud. It's become a tradition.

When I first arrived in Copenhagen I walked all over town. And took a million pictures. I used to live here and love the city. It's pretty small but there's so much to do here.
Rundetaarn (The Round Tower) was built on the initiative of King Christian IV (1588-1648)

Rosenborg Castle is not only a beautiful historic building, it is also a fascinating museum of cultural history which houses some of Denmark’s greatest cultural treasures, not least the Crown Jewels and the Danish Crown Regalia.
The museum tells the history of the Danish kings through 300 years, from Frederik II in the late 16th century to Frederik VII in the 19th century; the history of the kings since then feature in the Amalienborg Museum.

The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek (Glypto-, from the Greek root glyphein, to carve and theke, a storing-place) is an art museum in Copenhagen, Denmark. The collection is built around the personal collection of the son of the founder of the Carlsberg Breweries, Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914).
Primarily a sculpture museum as indicated by the name, the focal point of the museum is antique sculpture from the ancient cultures around the Mediterranean including Egypt, Rome and Greece, as well as more modern sculptures such as a collection of Rodin works which is considered the most important outside France. However, the museum is equally noted for its collection of painting that include an extensive collection of French impressionists and Post-impressionists as well as Danish Golden Age paintings.

Christianshavn is a neighbourhood located on an artificial island in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded by Christian IV as part of his fortification of Copenhagen and inspired by Dutch cities and dominated by canals, it is the part of Copenhagen with the most nautical atmosphere. Once a working-class neighbourhood, Christianshavn has developed into a trendy and bohemian part of the city with its own distinguished personality, residents tending to see them selves first is Christianshavners and then as Copenhageners.

Nyhavn (lit. "New Harbor") is a popular area in Copenhagen, Denmark with both locals and tourists. Starting from the memorial anchor at Kongens Nytorv, the street is lined with many bars and restaurants facing out to a picturesque harbor.

Amalienborg Palace is the winter home of the Danish royal family, and is located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It consists of four identical classicizing palace façades with rococo interiors around an octagonal courtyard (Amalienborg Slotsplads); in the center of the square is a monumental equestrian statue of Amalienborg's founder, King Frederik V.
Amalienborg was originally built for four noble families; however, when Christiansborg Palace burnt down on 26 February 1794, the royal family bought the palaces and moved in. Over the years various kings and their families have resided in the four different palaces.

OK, I realize I have been a bit slow to update the blog lately.
As most of you know we went to London to do a few shows. It was so amazing being back. We pretty much lived there a couple of years ago, so it was really nice seeing some friends and jjust walking around in the city.
First thing we did was go back to Hyde Park. It was easy getting there, we were staying in an apartment right across the street.

The hardest part was the time change. We really didn;'t sleep much. One morning I got up around 5.30 am and finally just went out. This picture is from Queensway at 6.30am.

A really nice surprise was to see my friend Phil again. I met Phil 10 years ago, when I used to play shows at The Whiskey in West Hollywood, and he was the soundguy back then. Now he lives in London and he ended up being our soundguy while we were there. That was so awesome:

It was our most important show, and it also turned out to be the coolest of them all. It was packed, and that is always a nice feeling.
I had a few videos from the show I wanted to post here. But....They are gone. I must have deleted them by accident, and I am so pissed. I found one of them, but the sound is gone. Very strange. But my computer is also 5 years old. I guess I should just be happy that it's still running.

London day 1

We are back in London.It feels great, despite of some serious jetlag. We arrived friday morning at 7am and went straight to a hotel at the airport to sleep.

This morning we took the Heathrow Connect train to Paddington:

My week in Hollywood..

I have been meaning to write a blog every day for the past week. I guess I will just write 1 blog about my entire week instead.
First, I went to the Thrust Drums photo shoot. If you still have not seen their drums, please check them out. They are amazing !

Then I moved to Hollywood (thank you Taylor and Heidi ), where I spent 4 days in the studio with indie producer The Fox, who we recorded with in the past. While on tour, we spoke on the phone and decided to do a weird EP together in just a few days. And weird it was, we had fun !

After moving to Hollywood I decided to go hiking every day. It is so pretty up there in the park.

I realized as I went up there, it had been 10 years since I had been there last. That's too long.
My next adventure was THE BEACH !!!

My friend Gitte from Denmark was visiting. So we spent a lot of time together. Now, my Danish is almost perfect again.
We walked from Santa Monica to Venice:

While we were down there, everybody found out about Michael Jackson. All of a sudden all the stores were playing his music and people were yelling his name everywhere. It was wild. And of course Hollywood Blvd was out of control with tourists by the time I came back home.

I remembered I used to go to the library when I first moved to Hollywood, so I decided to go back. I realized they have a bunch of great movies you can rent for free. So I finally got to see Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany's. My favorite was Casablanca - for several reasons....

Saturday I went to see East of Eden at the cemetery. It was VERY cold.

Sunday we played at the Echoplex, it was an animal shelter benefit. So thanks to everybody who came out and donated money to the cute little animals.
Monday we recorded 7 songs for a podcast somewhere in the valley and later I went with a couple of friends to see Transformers. Bad choice !! DO NOT GO !! Fortunately I had borrowed the Chaplin collection from the library, so I had something good to watch before bed :-)
Now it's tuesday night and I have tomorrow to pack and get organized for the UK trip. We leave thursday morning.

San Francisco party

It's sunday morning and we are getting up. We are in San Francisco and the show at Slims was so much fun. After the show we partied at the club until we got kicked out, then went to a private party somewhere, with the guys from Glasvegas and the Von Iva girls. That was fun !!!

Anyways, we need to get out of the hotel in about 10 minutes to go have our guitar fixed and then drive to Oregon.
That means we can take turns sleeping in the van.

A four-wheeled adventure

We ended up driving all the way to El Paso last night. Unfortunately we ended up at a shitty hotel and didn't get a lot of sleep. The good thing is, we were off today, so we slept all afternoon. Then went to the store to get some food. Once again finding healthy food was a challenge. They did have a "health and diet section", see picture ! And do notice what is in that section; cake and cookies and crackers..

There is nothing going on in El Paso. I have been bored all day. The most exciting thing today was my fortune cookie message:

Oh, and I found "Amadeus" in a store today. One of my favorite movies. So that's what I will be watching tonight. We are playing here in El Paso tomorrow night and then we go to Tucson. In Tucson we meet up with our old TM and driver Zuhair. He is flying out to Tucson to drive us home wednesday night after our show at Plush. We are doing a performance the next morning in LA for Yahoo. Should be fun. Cannot wait to be back home, although it will only be for 2 days. Then we go up the west coast for a few more shows. We will be back home again around the 13th - and 2 weeks off !!!!
I am making a schedule in my head, so far it is : spa treatment, lunch at mao's kitchen and a trip to Malibu.

Chillin' in Austin

Today we got up around 12.30pm. We just couldn't fall asleep last night. The phones kept ringing and we kept talking. But finally we went to bed. We all had crazy dreams, I believe David had dreams of the "artwork" in the greenroom:

When we woke up this "morning" we just wanted to have a great day. We met up with The Boxing Lesson at 2pm to pick up the rest of our gear at Emo's. There was still some blood on the sidewalk.

And some bullet holes. They said there were between 18-30 of those:

After getting the rest of our gear from the club, we went to Bouldin Creek for breakfast. They have amazing vegan food, and I also had an excellent spirulina drink.

After breakfast we drove back to the hotel to park the van and then walked around for a bit. This is at the hotel:

After walking around, taking a nap and swimming at the hotel, we decided to go eat dinner at Mighty Cones.

We are on our own now for about a week or so. The Takeover UK went home. We are doing a few shows around the country this week before meeting up with Von Iva in Saint Louis.

Warehouse party in Plymouth, PA

So tonight we had a show in Plymouth PA.

When we showed up we weren't sure what it was gonna be like. It looked like an abandoned warehouse. But by the time we went on it was packed with really rad kidz. They were going off, even fell into us when they were dancing. Knocked over a couple of mic stands. It was a good time. The funniest thing was after the show when a guy walked up to me and introduced himself as "dirty chocolate" and said "you should come party at my house"...Great offer, but we had to roll at that point. Later Plymouth, it's been real :-)

New York

We have spent a couple of days in New York and it has been great. I love New York. Unfortunately this is when our tour manager Zuhair, also known as "The Hair", had to leave us. We got him really drunk the last couple of nights. It was great, he kept yelling stuff like "You ass holes are ruining my life" and "cunt rockets" ...He really loves us..

When we played at Mercury Lounge we had a couple of hours off in the afternoon. Martin and David decided to sleep in the van. I went shopping on Broadway in the rain. It was awesome:

The next morning we had to get up real early to go do a radioshow in Philadelphia.

One of the nights we stayed in Newark, which turned out to be a big mistake. That's the night someone broke into our van and stole our gear. So sad...Here we are filing a police report:

Today we were off. I slept til 2pm, that was great. Then I went for a walk and went to the movies at night.
Tomorrow we are going back to PA. But we will be back in New York in a couple of days.
Now it's time for bed......

Brown veggies

It's midnight and we are in our hotel room in Connecticut. We drove all day - again... Spending all day in a van causes weird situations like this one:

So here's an interesting observation. Veggies are brown and deep fried in West Virginia. We stopped somewhere for lunch and I had the "Veggie plate", and this is what I got:

It came with cornbread, and if you don't see it, it's because it's brown and deep-fried too. It's interesting that the plate contains 4 different vegetables and cornbread...
Last night we played in Thomas, West Virginia. I have been pretty good at talking about the killer shows we've had on this tour, so why not be honest and mention, that last night's show was a bit different. The town was pretty much in the middle of the mountains and a forest. Here's a picture of the city:

The people we met were very nice, but about 90% of the stores were closed. And they were interesting shops too. Like this one:

When we left this morning there was so much fog everywhere, we couldn't even see the road. That was my favorite part of the visit. It looked amazing.

Tomorrow we are playing in Boston and then monday we are in NYC !!!! Cannot wait to be back in New York.

It's wednesday night at 3 am in North Carolina. I am exhausted and hungry. Not a good combination.
The only thing that's keeping me sane right at this moment is Jane's addiction " Ritual de la Habitual". I'm sure our hotel neighbors don't agree..
The last few shows have been cool, but it's all a big blur at this point.It's a bunch of driving and room numbers...Too tired to sleep..

Florida

We are now on our way out of Florida. We were here thursday, friday and saturday. It was really amazing, for sure the best part of the tour so far. Huge crowds and great parties, and of course amazing weather. I loved being by the water finally.
And I saw a baby gator: ( don't tell me it isn't a gator ! )

Saturday we made it to Miami Beach and it was so amazing. I had cuban food, hung out at the beach and visited Versace's mansion, where I had a $15 juice ! (it was good )

While I was walking around by the beach I saw this killer old car, so when I got back to the van I said " I saw this killer old Buick", and the guys have been teasing me ever since, for saying that. According to them, those words have never before come out of a person's mouth - under the age of 80... But here is the "killer old Buick" :

I was really looking forward to seeing some alligators, and we found out that to go from Miami to Tampa, you go through "alligator alley", so I thought I was all set. We started driving, and...I FELL ASLEEP AND MISSED THE WHOLE THING !!!!!

Yesterday we did a show for Paste Magazine in Atlanta. It will be up on their website soon. After the performance we had lunch and did an interview. Then off to the club, The Drunken Unicorn, for load-in. There was a pretty rad bar in the parking lot. We hung out there all night until we had to play. It was great so many people showed up on a monday night. Even a friend we met 3 years ago in London showed up. Surprised...

By the time we were back at the hotel it started raining - a lot !!!!!

After our show in Atlanta, we were told to go hang out in Printers Alley, downtown. That worked out great, kuz it was right down the street from our hotel. We could actually see Printers Alley from our room. We were on the 16th floor at the Sheraton. It was really nice. Printers Alley had 'Nude Karaoke" which we, of course, hit first. David did a cover of a Cat Stevens song. No comment.
Then we found the coolest little bar, Bourbon street Blues Bar : www.bourbonstreetblues.com
They had a rad blues band playing, and it was almost 2am and absolutely NO DRUGS involved. (We had already gotten rid of those a mile before the Ohio Canine drug checkpoint)

Head cheese is not cheese ya'll....

Went out for dinner and ended up at a mexican restaurant down the street. Being vegan on the road is almost impossible, but tonight I am glad I say no to any kind of cheese. Because, I did not know that head cheese is not actually cheese...
I took a picture of the menu, because I thought the word "head cheese" sounded funny and made me think of a special friend of the band. Then I got curious and googled it:
Head cheese is in fact not a cheese, but meat slices in aspic, with onion, black pepper, allspice, bayleaf, salt and or vinegar, from the head of a calf or pig (sometimes a sheep or cow). It may also include meat from the feet, tongue and heart.

We went back to Chicago to do a private showcase for an ad agency. It went well. The company is really old, and they say that "Madmen" is based on stories from this company. I believe it. It was really awesome ! We played on one of the top floors. Check out the view:

The next day we went to Pittsburgh. We got there early, so we walked around the city for a couple of hours.

Gliss and Mastadon in Kansas

It is tuesday morning and we are on our way to Saint Louis. We are listening to "Souvlaki" (slowdive), perfect morning music, when you are really spaced out and not sure how you are feeling.
Last night we played in Lawrence, Kansas. I didn't expect it to be very exciting to be honest. But I was so wrong. First thing I discovered when we pulled up, was the Mastadon show right across the street. Our set was scheduled to begin at 11.30pm, so that left me with plenty of time to go enjoy a proper metal show. It has been probably a year since I have been to a metal show, so I was really happy. I was right in the front, between giant speakers that were taller than me and big sweaty men in black clothes. I fit right in, 'cos I had borrowed David's fresh black hoodie, he had just washed that afternoon. By the time I left the show, that hoodie smelled like a sweaty man. (David doesn't know this yet...He will know when he reads this blog..haha..)
As soon as Mastadon finished, I ran across the street and played a set. Well, almost a set. The sound system crashed, so we only played a few songs. Our amps were still working though, so we just jammed for awhile and made as much noise as we could. That was fun... Especially because I got a new bass yesterday !!!! Hollow body...You know what that means : FEEDBACK !!!!!!!!! YEAhhhh !!!!!!

Perverts and expensive food

It's saturday morning and we are leaving Minneapolis. This week has been real intense with some serious driving. We are all very tired. We are looking for any kind of entertainment to keep us going, such as the chain of gas stations called "Kum and go".

Minneapolis was pretty cool. Wild girls in that town and a few perverts. Favorite quote so far : " You are so hot up there, I nearly jerked off". ( true story )
We were so spaced out and lazy, we just hung out in the alley all night with our gear.

Dinner was interesting. Our tour manager Zuhair convinced me to eat at Jimmy John's, which is a famous sandwich shop. But it turned out to be the most disgusting sandwich I have ever had. They must have put half a jar of mayo in that sandwich. I felt sick for at least 30 minutes. So I went shopping. marty and David ate at the venue. David ordered a burger. It did not come with anything, so he asked for mayo, lettuce and tomato. Turns out each of those items were considered a side item, so their 2 burgers ended up costing them $25. They were pissed !

We stayed at The Hyatt last night, the whole 6th floor was a giant gym. Here's the view from our room on the 16th floor.

We are keeping with the theme and staying at The Hyatt again tonight - in Chicago.
We should be there in about 7 hours.

In colorado

The last few days have been difficult to get through. We have been getting up early in the morning and driving all day, then we'd do a show, then drive again after the show. Last night we drove until 6am, then got up again at 11 to go to Denver, Co.
A lot of mountain driving. There is snow everywhere. We still have 4 more hours to go today. We have a radio interview tonight at 7pm , we are running late for.

KEXP in Seattle

After spending 3 or 4 days in Portland we made it to Seattle. We did KEXP this morning and now we are staying at a friend's house.
It was nice and sunny today. I went to a nice park in the afternoon, while the guys were sleeping and David was working on his phone.

The last day in Portland we went downtown to the famous donut shop: Voodoo Donuts.
They have ALL donuts, including the bacon donut and the 'cock and balls' donut. They were out of the 'cock and balls' unfortunately, I was looking forward to taking a picture of it.
Next to the donut shop is the Paris Theater. We were told if you go in, you have to have sex on the stage, or they will kick you out. I don't know if it's true or not, but the people telling the story were very convincing.
This week we have a few 12 hour drives, we are not looking forward to that. But one thing we are looking forward to, is getting our vinyl. They are sending it to our hotel in Nebraska.
Tonight we are playing at El Corazon and then we are off to Spokane.

San Francisco was so awesome - as always. We were staying in Noe Valley with our friend, and ended up spending the whole afternoon at the bar. It was sweet.

Outside area in the back - 3 levels, real chill ...A lot like being back in Camden.

The venue was odd though. It looked like a giant pirate ship, but as one of the photographers said "fuck the sound, it's a good place to party". And so we did...

Today we had to drive to Portland. Driving ALL DAY !!! Oregon is beautiful. Huge mountains with snow and lots of lakes,

Right now we are about 2 hours from Portland. It's dark out and we are so spaced out. So to stay awake we are playing insanely loud music. Marty is DJ'ing, so we are listening to Beastie Boys and music from the late 90's. Its fun. When Zuhair is driving we listen to Mountain Goats.
When me and David are in the front we listen to Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Eminem and anything else with cool beats..... Which can be difficult when driving. They always tell me (yell at me) " focus on the road - NOT DANCING"
But who can sit still when listening to Timbaland, really?

David got mad respect at Burger King earlier. We are all 4 sitting inside eating. All of a sudden David goes " I can rip one that would be sooo loud right now", so of course we are like "do it dude". So he goes "I am totally spreading my ass cheeks right now, so my hole is touching the plastic chair", and then he just went for it. And believe me, it was loud. All the retired couples at the other tables were laughing at him. It was so disgusting. The plastic chair was hollow and sort of acted as a speaker.

Oh, and in case Matty is reading this, you might want to know that the guys mentioned " Matty" and "Tuna Can" a few times today..... I believe it's called Bromance. On that subject, earlier today I am in the front seat with Zuhair, and I hear Marty and David laughing and turn around, and this is what's going on: David is holding his hands up facing each other, forming a hole, while Marty is sliding a banana in and out...

Yes, good times.... And now it's raining.

It's interesting being the only girl around a group of guys. You really get to know a few things. Very entertaining.Today I have certainly learned about blue balls and waking up with a "piss boner"....

Friday night we were home and played at Spaceland. It felt so nice being with our friends, and of course sad to leave...Always..

Yesterday we went to San Jose. For the next 5 weeks we have a little helper with us named Zuhair. He helps us drive and stay organized :-)

We played at Johnny V's last night. If you have been there you know what Im talking about when I say, it's straight out of a Bukowski book. Small, dirty...In fact, when we opened the doors to the bathroom, about 50 small flies came right at us. I was talking to one of the guys from The Takeover UK, he told me that when he went to pee, one the flies landed on his "thing".
Everybody at the bar were so drunk. The sound guy was even asleep at the bar. After about 2 minutes there, I had 3 drunk men yelling at me for about 2 hours, "ladybug" and "heart breaker". It got so bad that the bartender had to rescue me and hide me behind the bar. That ended up being cool, 'cos I discovered they had vinyl, so I ended up DJ'ing all night. I was really excited to find a small cafe up the street called "good karma" , they had amazing vegan food. Not only did they have tofu, they had fake meat and brown rice. I think I was smiling the whole time I was eating.
The show went well and we made some new friends. If you are ever in the area, you should stop by the bar and say hi to the bartender, very rad chick.
Of course we ended up going to bed really late and this morning we have a radio interview in Sacramento. So we had to leave at 9am. That meant I had to get up at 7.30 to have time to work out. The hotel we stayed at had the nicest gym. It was great.
We have so much stuff in our van, there's no room to put my feet anywhere. I am sitting in the back with a box of shirts, 2 computers, a suitcase and 3 bags. But our stereo is working great. We are listening to " The Verve", nice morning music :-)

We'll be on the radio in Sacramento in about 2 hours, if you are in the area and want to listen to 3 spaced out musicians...

After not getting a lot of sleep for a few days we decided to do it up proper. So we are staying at a golf Resort tonight. You know what that means: NICE BEDS !!!!! And great exercise room... They also have a huge pool with a bar.
But first, we are playing at The Rogue Bar in Scottsdale. We have been there before. It's a perfect small, dirty club. And they have a huge painting of Carl Barat on the wall, I kinda like that :-)
SXSW went by crazy fast. We ended up playing a bunch of parties and I loved it. The only disappointment was missing Tricky friday night. But hanging out with the Duke Spirit made up for it. Leila is rad !

This week has been busy. Always a million things going on right before a tour. But that's ok.
Monday night I went to the Viper room with some friends to see Restavrant. I realized while I was there, that I had seen them 3 times in one week. But they are cool to watch. Tuesday night I went to Spaceland to see "Efterklang" from Denmark. I met the singer, so I got to practice my danish. I once ran into a danish guy at a club and he told me " Fuck, your danish is bad. You didn't grow up in Denmark did you" !!! So ever since then, I have been practicing. Here's Efterklang at Spaceland:

This afternoon we were practicing and then tearing down all our gear. It took a really long time. It's always a little sad to leave, to me anyways. Well, sad and exciting.. We will actually be back in town a couple of days in March. One of those days will be March 27th when we play at Spaceland. I hope you can make it out to the show. This week I was busy hanging out with awesome people and in between parties and shows I made sure to spend at least 2 hours a day watching Marilyn Manson videos on Youtube. I am obsessed with the video for "This is the new shit".
Saturday I met up with my friend Leah and after walking around in Hollywood and laughing at places I have lived (read: creepy hotels) we decided to go play pool. (see photo: Leah organizing the balls)
None of us know how to play, so we made up our own rules. I can't talk about our pool experience, it would be too embarrassing.
Sunday I went with Martin to see Nick Jago at Spaceland. That guy has the raddest look ever.It was a really good night. I also saw Walter, the famous door man :-)
Monday I went back to Spaceland, this time with Jake and Conner. And of course I hung out with Kevin Bronson, we always run into each other. I think I am going to The Bar in Hollywood tomorrow and maybe even thursday. Come out !!!

Parties and a 3rd album

Wednesday morning we met up with our management downtown, to sign the contract for a 3rd album with Ryko. We are very happy about that. As most of you know by now, our 2nd album will be released April 7th 2009.

Wednesday night I went to a few parties around town with my partner in crime Taylor :-)
After a very long night we ended up at The Bar in Hollywood. Excellent DJs by the way !! We will be back....

Thursday I was exhausted, so I went to Malibu again to relax. I am so gonna have to move there..

Tonight I am going to Switch Gallery to see Restavrant. They are pretty rad. You should come out and hang.
Sunday Nick Jago is playing at Spaceland, I will be there. And I might be at Spaceland again on monday...

laundry room vandals

so, yesterday i went down to the laundry room in my building and came across the total devastation of two washers and two dryers. all 4 machines were completely unhooked from all hoses and cables and turned upside down in the middle of the room. their throats were practically slit in order to get at the quarters hidden inside. someone had taken the machines apart and dismantled the coin slides and tossed them to the side, then the tried to pry the coin box out, and when that failed they turned the machines over and pretty much shook all the quarters out of them. i called the management, and they said that this has become an epidemic. in the past week, this has happened in 5 of the buildings they own. they also told me that all of the laundry rooms are secure in each of the buildings so that only residents of that building can get into them. this means that these are all separate incidences and not part of an organized crime syndicate. so i can only draw a couple of conclusions from this: a) there are a lot more tweakers around than you realize and/or b) that this economy is even worse off than anybody has let on.

Exploring LA

This week I decided to explore LA again, and not just at night. It is so satisfying to just walk around on my own looking at fun stuff and beautiful people.
One of my favorite places to walk around is Wilshire Blvd right below Rodeo Drive.
It makes me happy to see beautiful young women having lunch with very old men.

And there are so many excellent stores in that area too.
On thursday Taylor and I befriended a couple of different mechanics in Silverlake. Our original plan was to go to Amoeba, which we did end up doing a little later on, but her car decided to stop working a few times..So she took me to see Koko, who is the guy that likes to keep her car for a couple of weeks whenever there is a problem with it. I think he fancies her ;-)

Yesterday I went to West Hollywood to meet with my friend Jes, who is an excellent guitarist and also involved in www.freedomtodream.org
Freedom To Dream's focus is to create music schools within  orphanages to alleviate the boredom, frustration, violence  and lack of direction these children suffer. Please check it out !

I woke up thinking about fruit....and the blog I didn't write last night. As you may or may not know,we take turns writing blogs. My days are tuesday and friday. So now it's wednesday morning and I have to write something. Fortunately I have the new issue of "Body and Soul", so I can pass on some useful information. This blog is gonna be so exciting.

Also I have noticed a lot of people being sick right now, so this next tip might be helpful to you. Thyme, also known as Thymus Vulgaris ( I didn't make that up),
is one of the most potent plant treatments, it contains high levels of antimicrobial compounds that combat colds and flus as well as expectorant properties that can help tame coughs. You just boil water and pour it over 2 teaspoons thyme, and let it steep 10 minutes. Another good cold remedy, which I use a lot myself, is hot water with fresh ginger and lemon juice. It works !
This next tip, is news to me, but I believe anything they write in this magazine, so I will try it out. Turmeric ! An ancient Indian seasoning, also known as Curcuma Longa, comes from the Sanskrit word for "yellow". Lots of health benefits, contains manganese, iron and even fiber. I still laugh out loud when I think of the time in the back of a tour-bus when I dropped a heavy flashlight on David's forehead. I am not sure why it's funny, but it still makes me laugh.
I like the movie "Christiane F" a lot.
I like sewing and making fun dresses.
I love traveling.
I think phony people are great entertainment.
I like when my Japanese friend writes me in english, 'cos I have to read his letters 3 or 4 times to figure out what it is he is trying to say.
I don't like being told what to do and I don't like guys in expensive cars,
.............. I just deleted a few lines about stuff I really don't like, because as a friend once reminded me : "Once you put it up, you can't take it back"....

so here is a bit about me....

im %50 German & %50 Norwegian living in long beach. i like guitars, cooking meat and making experimental sauces with fresh herbs from the farmer's market. i am militant about putting the toilet seat down... to a fault, i even do it in public bathrooms (i cant help it, its automatic). i drink apple juice every morning and i like good strong coffee, black. i love new gadgets and prunes, a dangerous combo. also, dark rum. i fall asleep every night listening to audio books. i prefer watching seasons of tv shows to watching movies. if you ask me what i think our new record sounds like i will say this: "the record sounds like the morning after... like laying around all day with the shades drawn, like getting ready to go out and do it all over again."

ps a BIG thanks to everyone who grabbed the 2 preview tracks that came out on Itunes this past tuesday... we have sold more copies of Sad Eyes in one day than any other song! i cant wait for you all to hear the rest of the record!!!

Victoria's day

So today our 2 new songs were released on iTunes, and I am excited that one of them is now the most downloaded Gliss song ever !!

I went to Santa Monica and I went shopping...Well, I tried to go shopping, it didn't work out well. I couldn't find anything I liked... Then I checked out a space to shoot the new video in. That didn't really work out either...

So I went to my Yoga class, and that was great... I am gonna try to go early tomorrow morning again, if I can get up.

Tonight I went to the Echoplex to see Zaza. I liked the projections a lot and the bass player was excellent. I did a video just for you to see !! But as it turns out, I am having trouble uploading it... Just one of those days..

Oh, and I hung out with Bronson again. We might as well move in together :-)

Ok, that's it for my blog. We have a schedule for blogging now. I believe Martin is next. So I have a couple of days to think of something a little more interesting to write about for you next time.

Gadget Alive

i spent all morning taking my phone apart. my friend gave me her old one the other day which is a big upgrade from the old school one i was rocking for the last year and a half. the damn thing practically took two 9 volt batteries. anyways, the speaker on this new one was all distorted and jacked up. she took it to the shop and they said might be able to fix it but it would take a while, but since she needed a phone right then and there, she bought a new one and gave me this old one. so i took it in, and they said that they do not do repairs, and since I didnt have the warranty on this phone, they could not send it in and there was nothing they could do. i went home bummed cause i thought i was back to my old schooler, then i found this amazing web site that not only tells you how to make all kinds of cool projects, but has guides on how to dismantle any gadget or device you can think of. so i looked up the new phone, got out some tools, and stripped the phone down all the way to the bare circuitry, found the speaker issue and put it all back together good as new! feeling like a damn handyman, like i can fix anything! i have a camera somewhere that is broken i might just have to dig that out and fix it too. so if you need something repaired, call up Big D's Gadget Alive: where your device is born again. so i got a promotion copy of the album yesterday and got to see it DONE with all the artwork and everything... looks great and im stoked on it! popped it in on the drive home and checked it out... its a good feeling. ive heard these songs a million times, and heard the finished mixes a thousand times, and heard the mastered and sequenced version a hundred times, but listening to it from the actual cd with artwork and everything in front of me.... AHHHHHHHHH, its a good feeling! im really proud of this thing. i think its our most focused work; sonically, musically, thematically, etc etc. the guitar tones we dialed in on it are insane! did some cool textured, layered noise/feedback stuff too which is always fun. so look for this record to drop soon, early spring, but until then, this tuesday on itunes there will be couple tracks from the album for you to check out! stay tuned to learn about new videos, touring, singles, special releases etc etc! a lot of good things coming in '09!

Glasvegas at Amoeba & meeting Carl Barat

Went to Amoeba to see Glasvegas. It was pretty packed, had to park a few blocks south of Sunset Blvd. It didn't seem like Glasvegas was too happy about the sound, they stopped a couple of times. There was some serilous feedback going on, but I am not against that.. I liked it a lot.

After the show we ran into Carl Barat from the Libertines, he was hanging out. Nice bloke..

Partying in New York

Our show is tomorrow night at The Delancey, can't wait.
We got free sneakers and bags today. Martin even got a free haircut.

CMJ Preview: Cafeteria Talk with Gliss

We got a few moments with Martin Klingman and Victoria Cecelia from LA band Gliss in the cafeteria above KCRW. It was a reunion of sorts because, in all truthfulness, I was their publicist years ago. They still play some of the sexiest music I’ve ever heard and have opened for Billy Corgan, BRMC and the Raveonettes among others. While in NYC for CMJ, they’re going to be mastering their new CD and I can’t wait to hear it!

Martin, Victoria and David Reiss all play bass, drums and guitar, so it’s like musical chairs with instruments in their live shows, but they do it in a low key way. It’s truly not a “stunt,” they just couldn’t find a drummer with the right vibe so they decided to do it all themselves (learning a great appreciation for other instruments in the process).
